Incoming Storm by RoieG Incoming Storm by RoieG
After showing you its worm and fuzzy side, here is another view of Blue Bay Beach as the storm rushed in.
It was taken at noon, 30 seconds exposure with B+W 10 stops ND filter.

Was the desired effect to make the water look smokey?

This is incredible! It's as if the waves reflected the intensity. Kind of reminds me of a scene from Frankenstein by Shelley. The night of Victors and Elizabeth's wedding night.

I have to say I prefer this one to the "sweet sunsets". Though I'd call myself a real sunset addict storm still have a place in my heart. Like this one.

This is actually more like a prologue to the actual storm and I love to think forward and imagine the actual play. Quite simply this is nature and sea showing one of their best faces.

This is good, but did you try any other exposures? I think 20-25 seconds would look a little sharper, giving the image a little more attitude. Also I think the contrast is a little too high but hey. It's a great shot! :+fav:

What a powerful shot! You get a sense of the storm approaching, and of its strength. The rocks can only wait and take whatever is thrown at them. A memorable and lasting image!

Stunning! I've always wished I lived closer to the beach, not just for the general beachy-ness (ha ha) but also for the photography oppurtunities - I live as far away as it's possible to live from the beach.

I have nothing constructive to say about this one! It's perfect!

your photography is amazing, but i'm curious about some stuff... you mention 10 stops ND filter. also, how do you get such a great exposure with 30 seconds? i imagine it has something to do with the aforementioned stops and filter
Reply
:iconroieg:
RoieG Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2006
the filters creates a very dark image and so you need a very long exposure to deal with it.
