Lives only in New Zealand and one of its unique icons.
One of the special things about the Tui is that, unlike most birds, he can use both his voice boxes at ones and thus singing a duet with himself. Quite amazing.
We even met at the Whangarei Native Birds Recovery Center (link) a talking Tui called Woof Woof. Woof Woof was rescued when he was very little by the center and raised there, and he actually started repeating everything his caretaker said, even with an accent and even his smoking coughs
Amazing little bird indeed, so amazing that New Zealand even has a beer after it.
This Tui was photographed in Karori Wildlife Sanctuary near Wellington.
